Each month the children draw or create a self portrait using
different media. (see former posts) Colored tape is one of the popular
materials in our art area. The children, on their own initiative have made
pictures, kites, and rockets with the tape. We felt the children would enjoy
using the tape in a manner different from anything they had already done. Each
child drew an outline of their face and features with a pencil. The next step
was cutting and/or tearing the tape and taping it down on the paper over the
outline and sometimes adding more details.
