The children were then given tools to explore ways of "chiseling" the ice. Many were curious about how the toys would get out of the ice. We used the words "melting," "slippery," and "freezing," to describe our sensory experience with all the ice.
It was interesting to see the ice in progressive states of melting, as the toys poked out of the ice little by little.
By the end of the day, there was much less ice left in the tub, and we were able to play with the toys that were inside.
