KA-Building Our Fine Motor Skills by making "Mini Doughnut" Necklaces

In Kitah Alef the children are developing their fine motor skills.  We always try to meet children where they are at, and follow their interests, so that their learning is most meaningful.  Our little ones love food, especially little pieces they can grasp with their pincers, so we prepared an activity for the children to make "Mini- Doughnut" necklaces with Cheerios. Not only is this a great activity to help the children to build fine motor skills, but it was  also our small introduction into the food of Chanukah. Prior to presenting this activity to the children the Morah taped one end of pieces of yarn to make it easier for the children to string the Cheerios. The children used their fingers to string the cereal unto the yarn. They loved eating the cereal a little more than stringing it! This was a great activity, the children loved it!

Pearl reaches in to taste a Cheerio before continuing to string her necklaces.
