KDH, KDH, How does your garden grow!

KDH children came in one morning last week and found a bag of plants and seeds on top of the cubbies. What would we do with them?
FALL PLANTING!
Even though with temperatures in the low 80's it did not feel like autumn, the children used their small shovels, turned over the soil and pulled out the weeds in the planting beds. After fertilizing and watering it, the soil was ready for planting. We harvested potatoes that had been planted in the spring. Other potatoes had started growing again and were left to be harvested in ten weeks. Cauliflower, purple cabbage, lettuce and pansies were planted from starter plants. Radishes, parsley, carrots, and beets were planted from seeds.
This morning, we walked outside and Motty exclaimed, "Look, what is growing!" Indeed, the radishes had already sprouted.
We are also watching our tomato plants which are still flowering and hoping to grow a few more tomatoes.

We will keep you posted on this blog as we document the growing plants.
