KDH's "new classroom" has been a source of pleasure to all. We are enjoying the large, bright, freshly painted classroom. We also had a new door with a new frame installed. After Succot break we found that the mezuzah had been taken off by the workers.
Rabbi Sollish to the rescue!
Rabbi Sollish came in recited the bracha and put the mezuzah back up with the children. He explained that there are two important things for them to remember: 1. The mezuzah is the scroll inside the case with the Shema written on it. 2. We kiss the mezuzah at the door and are reminded that we are Jewish when we go out. There was a math lesson too. The children helped measure 1/3 of the way down the door post and told Rabbi Sollish where to put the mezuzah.
It was fantastic to participate in this special mitzvah in our own classroom!
