This has been a culinary summer for Kitah Gimmel and Kitah Daled!
It all started when Morah Yael read us a book called Wheat to Challah, about the process wheat goes through to become challah for Shabbat! Friends were so enthralled that we even decided to make challah from scratch!
Each friend had a turn to measure, add an ingredient, and stir! Then the challah dough rested over night, and the next day we added ALL KINDS of special toppings to celebrate the beginning of a new month! The finished challahs looked truly as special and unique as each friend!
Next, Morah Katherine, who loves to cook, wanted to explore her passion with our friends. We ordered bananas, frozen fruit, orange juice, and coconut milk!
The older children helped to chop the bananas to prepare them for our cooking session!
In groups, each of our friends added bananas, frozen fruits, and coconut milk or orange juice to a blender! We took turns guessing which color it would be and what it would taste like after it was blended! Then we pressed the button, and added our smoothie to cups! We added popsicle sticks, froze them over night, and the next day...
The best part was that we had enough to share with our friends in Kitah Hay too!
Our next baking project was to celebrate the 4th of July! Morah Lindsey brought blueberries from her very own blueberry bush (she has sooooo many blueberries, so many to share)!
We made mini blueberry pies by mixing blueberries, sugar, spices, and just a little cornstarch!
Then, we added the mixture to our pie crusts and baked!
The result:
Blueberry Mania!
Some to eat right away, some to share with friends and family!
I can't wait to see what we will cook next in Kitah Gimmel/ Daled!
