Chanukah is Coming!

Kitah Alef is jumping into Chanukah like latkes into a hot frying pan. All around our classroom you can find familliar Chanukah icons.

On the table we have real chanukiyot/menorahs with real candles to stick inside that also practices fine motor skills.

We also have a Chanukah puzzle to match!

There are dreidels, dreidels everywhere, spinning around our class. They are also in our sensory bin along with a wooden menorah and some wrapping paper.

At art time we pained with....dreidels! We spun them, scraped them and used the top and bottom to make designs in our sparkly paint.

At circle time we've been singing Chanukah songs and spinning dreidels. You can make your body like a dreidel and spin around too!

It's a custom to put the menorah in the window so everyone walking by will see it.

We have 9 new sensory bottles - 8 small ones and one tall one, to be exact. Together they form a sensory bottle menorah in our window! Each one has a different material inside and on top you can see the numbers 1-8 for counting and sequencing skills.

Another menorah is laying quite flat - it's made out of tape and invites the children to form its shape out of whatever materials they can find!

We can't wait for Chanukah!
