In our classroom some materials and manipulatives that are a constant. Markers, crayons, pencils, paper, paints, large blocks, journals, and books etc. are always available. We also vary many of the art supplies, manipulatives, tray activities, etc to ensure that the children are exposed to and experience many different things.
The children were very busy these past few weeks manipulating the Lego, building cars, airplanes, and animals. It was time for a change. We removed the Lego (which we will bring back another time) and put the straws and connectors into our Manipulative center.
The yiladim immediately went to play/work with them. They collaborated together to build Succot. Four walls and straws laid across the top for schach. Airplanes, a definite favorite, were created too.
Their excitement combined with their creativity and cooperative behavior is a pleasure to behold.
