"Yaakov and Eisav,
Twins but Opposites.."
a chant composed by our own Morah Sara Carter. The children chant along as we listen to the CD. Besides for helping us remember the Parsha/Torah Portion it supports language development. At circle time the children were challenged to list as many opposites as possible.
Alex: dark - light
Theo: shiny - rusty
Nadav: up - down
Motty: girl - boy
Jonah: growing - dying
Sholom: night - day
Dovi: hot - cold
Menny: tight - loose
Eden: here - there
Mia: clean - dirty
Max: big - small
Felix: empty - full
Luba: open - closed.
This is an impressive list. We added a few more as the class played an opposite card game together that Morah Estie lent to us.
above- below
sad - happy
in front - behind
outside - inside
We also have a self correcting matching puzzle game of opposites that the children use during center time.
These "opposites" are nouns, adjectives, verbs and directional and positional words. Knowing these improves both our receptive and expressive language.
As you can see from the opposites that the KDH children shared they have lots of language to use!
